2027 CSA UPDATE
As we planned our 2027 CSA, we did some serious thinking on how to reach more people and how to more closely meet your needs. We’ve made a few changes so we hope you read on. We hadn’t raised prices the last several years but we finally had to a tiny bit as, just like you, we’re feeling the squeeze of increasing costs everywhere and need to cover the growing expenses of both food production and program administration. Although we worked hard to keep the increase as small as possible, just a few dollars a week, we know that this will still be difficult for some of our patrons. Thus we are encouraging CSA members who are able to do so, to "round up," and we'll use those dollars to offset the cost of our CSA for those needing assistance as well as directing more produce to food access partners.
For those needing assistance, please email Cynthia to discuss options. We want you to have good food. As we often say, everybody deserves good food, and we mean it.
We have split our CSA into Spring, Summer, and Fall shares. Spring will run for four weeks and have one size share of 5-7 items. Summer will have both partial shares (5-7 items) and full shares (9-11 items) and will run for 12 weeks. Our Fall share will run for 8 weeks and will have one size share of 5-7 items.
Members of Sola Gratia Farm’s CSA will receive fresh, organically grown vegetables from the farm every week during the growing season!
WHAT’S A CSA?
CSA stands for “community supported agriculture!” Folks sign up for weekly vegetable boxes over the winter, before the growing season starts (or until subscriptions run out) and then receive weekly boxes of beautiful produce fresh from the fields during the growing season. By signing up, and paying early you allow us to have the resources to purchase seed and supplies, and to hire staff to start the season. Then we all share in the harvest together.
Your CSA shares can be picked up at our 2200 Philo Road location (in the parking lot of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Urbana) on Thursdays afternoons. For an extra fee, we can also deliver boxes on Thursdays, but delivery spots are limited, so sign up early if you are interested.
When you sign up for a CSA share with us, you are supporting your local economy, committing to healthy eating, trying new kinds of food, eating fresh and in season, and saving money.
This year, we are growing 125 varieties of over 50 different crops, and all are grown following organic methods. Add-ons are available, including locally baked bread, and mushrooms from Flyway Family Farm. À la carte sales of eggs, fruit, and flowers from local farms are sometimes available seasonally. Payment plans for your share are available upon request.
Email any questions or LINK inquiries to info@solagratiacsa.com. We very much hope you join us.
